What Meyer means by explaining that lie is a cooperative act is that it is for sure. People will let others deceive them or tell them false statements that may seem truthful but in reality, they are not. Whether it is from people we trust like friends or family or another classmate, we all have experienced these moments where we are lied to. People lie to hide secrets, cover up something, make you find out the truth, and many other ways. Lying is cooperative because it is something that can occur easily any day of the week.
What the speaker explains when she is saying that lying is a way of connecting what we wish they were at means is that we strive and want to be the person we may believe we want to be or fantasize about being someone better or like someone else. There are gaps though that can cause us to keep trying to overcome to become what people think will be who they will really be but in reality, it is their wishes that can affect them.
Yes, I would agree with truth two because we as humans do not necessarily believe lying is a good thing but we want to keep things between us and not give away information. There are times where people do not like lying but it is done secretly to cover things up to keep them safe and other scenarios.
Some of the techniques used to spot liars include distancing from someone, and a non contracted denial which means someone is overdetermined. Liars also look too much into one's eyes and freeze their upper body when being looked at. Also, look for clusters of evidence that lead to lying. We would want to know some of these techniques because these can be important in reading if we are being lied to or of others we know aren't falling into a bigger lie or trouble.
I believe that honesty is worth preserving because it is an important role that we feel safe within our lives. If no one is honest how can we build any trust in anyone. Lying is going to affect honesty but honesty plays an important role in how we speak to others and share our ideas. Lying is just giving less effort to show something or demonstrate truth, which can affect honesty and how people need to see that honesty is one of the greatest qualities that need to be preserved to maintain a good human-to-human connection. In society and culture, we can change how lying can be slowed down by publishing more entertaining and positive advertisements and trustful news article that isn't fake. Hearing one thing can be true if you hear it first but there are times when you hear something and it is completely false and everyone who sees it may believe it until many articles are published saying that it is wrong and these articles are truthful. Social media needs to maintain more honesty with showing that misleading something or not explaining something can be simply stated as a lie and that is where humans may overthink things but overall lies are everywhere around us and our world needs to get maintain honesty and truth and not become all lies because that is going to impact society and harm us.
